Workshops

Wexford Run Consulting provides training courses in the areas of strategic planning and product management so you can more effectively grow and manage your business -- for the long term. Course topics focus on strategic skill sets that will help managers think beyond the current quarter, current product release or current crisis, enabling them to get control, set goals and objectives, and meet milestones. And, each course is based on tried-and-true methods, tools and experience.

Courses are taught on site to individuals or groups. By combining lectures, exercises and class discussion, students (1) are exposed to the topic, (2) can discern good/valid methods, and (3) practice the course methods. While courses typically take one day, courses can be customized to client's needs. For instance, clients may simply want a half-day overview so a team is exposed to a topic. On the other hand they may want a multi-day session that combines training with a project at hand. They may want more of an academic approach, using case studies from Harvard Business School, Stanford or Northwestern to foster discussion and learning. Regardless, Wexford Run's training programs are designed to give the students knowledge, tools and templates that they can use for the long term.

Wexford Run's current, standard, one-day workshops include:

Strategic Planning Workshop

The Strategic Planning course is ideal for those involved with creating plans to achieve specific goals and objectives, whether they be for on-going corporate activities, M&A initiatives, product or portfolio initiatives or functional teams activities. The course focuses on a structured, multi-faceted, four-stage process and template that enables multi-discipline teams to (1) analyze the situation, (2) identify and recommend a strategy and (3) create tactical plans to track progress toward deliverables.

Strategic Positioning Workshop

The Strategic Positioning course is ideal for those involved with product strategy and development. It teaches how to conceive, design, develop and launch products from the target customer's perspective, versus from a technology or "competitive features+1" perspective. By assessing customer needs relative to competitive offerings, the method enables product managers to identify gaps in the market and position their products appropriately through a combination of product, price, promotion and distribution -- something we are all told is the "right way" to do it, but is never truly taught or structured for implementation, until now.

Product Management Workshop

The Product Management course is targeted toward new product managers seeking an overview of the product management function, along with typcial tools and processes. Attendees will be exposed to the role of a product manager throughout the product lifecycle and the responsibilities one has from product strategy and development to product marketing. The course will also touch on key interactions product managers have with other stakeholders in a company, as well as on how product management's roles and responsibilities change over time as a firm grows and matures.
